Updated: Sep 28, 2019

Words don’t do it justice. The lakes, the monasteries, the mountains..they are indescribable. Visit the Leh for yourself for a once in a lifetime experience.

Following are some of the things you could do in Leh-Ladakh.

Leh - Namgyal Tsemo Gampa (Leh Palace), the white-domed Shanthi Stupa, the Kali Mata Temple of Guardians in Spituk monastery, Alchi Monastery (only one built on flat ground) and the spellbinding Sangam (the confluence of Indus and Zanskar Rivers) where you can also do some rafting, the Likir Monastery to visit the splendid Dharma Wheel Gompa with massive Buddha statues, Pathar Sahib Gurdwara, the Basgo Palace (which once was the erstwhile capital of Ladakh) and the Leh Hall of Fame (which has a museum that houses some of the Kargil War memorabilia).

Also do the 4 hours ride to Magnetic Hill which defies the law of gravity where when a vehicle is parked on neutral gear on this metallic road the vehicle slides up and further Visit the colorful Leh markets

Nubra (around 7-8 hrs scenic drive from Leh passing through quaint villages) - enroute Khardungla, which at 5602m is the highest motorable road in the world and provides sweeping views over the city of Leh.  Check out Hunder, a quaint little hamlet in Nubra Valley covered with a glittering blanket of white sand dunes. offering a spectacular 360-degree view of the snow-clad mountain. Subject to availability, you can do camel riding in Hunder. Also, visit Panamik Village, you can take a dip in the hot Sulphur springs of the village (subject to permits). Enroute Panamik, visit the Samstenling monastery, around 150 years old. There is also Diskit Monastery which has a 106 foot tall Lord Buddha statue, tallest in Ladakh

Pagong Lake (around 6 hours from Leh) - the route is one of the most picturesque ones with stunning views. Also, the lake is spread across both India and China. This was also the lake shown in 3 idiots and Jab Tak hain jaan. You can check out options here to camp overnight under the stars
