My Story of Egypt
Updated: Sep 28, 2019
Home to one of the wonders of the world and a bustling population, Egypt is a safe and exhilarating experience. My recent trip to Egypt opened my eyes to the sheer warmth and hospitality of the locals. During this trip, I decided to cover Cairo, Aswan and Luxor. A little suggestion here, you will definitely need 8-10 nights to experience everything Egypt has to offer. I spent the first 5 nights in Cairo understanding the people, culture and the land. I fell in love with the Pyramids. These architectural masterpieces will never cease to amaze me. Cruising on the jeweled waters of the Nile is another trip highlight. There are plenty of cruise ships that offer this service 3nights cruise (downstream) Ex Aswan or the 4night upstream Ex Luxor- make sure you choose the right boat for the perfect experience.
I hit ‘Upper Egypt’ (Aswan & Luxor) to immerse myself in the history and wonders of ancient Egypt and the reign of the Pharaohs. I booked a private guide while visiting these sights and I highly recommend that. I actually took the overnight sleeper train from Cairo to Aswan and back from Luxor to Cairo—it was fairly comfortable and safe, and even offered breakfast.
Food-wise I stuffed myself with falafel and the Koshari, being a vegetarian. I can’t lie, I did miss my Indian Kaana… but I was well prepared with some Indian food thanks to my mommy who packed a suitcase full of food for me…
In a nut shell Egypt is wondrous, the history – the stories – the people and the culture - they truly make the place.
